Managing Conflict and Difficult People - City of Kalamunda

The ideal course for coaches, officials and committee members who want to better manage conflict, and prevent it.

The Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries in partnership with the City of Kalamunda are delivering a new course for coaches, officials and committee members to develop skills to better manage conflict and difficult people.

This is a fast-paced and interactive course valued at $150 and is offered FREE.

Conflict arises in sport in many ways; whether your selecting athletes, interpreting rules of the game or setting the strategic directions of the club.

This course will investigate strategies to:

  • Identify conflict in its early stages before it erupts into crisis
  • Prevent conflict arising in the first place
  • Use verbal strategies and body language to diffuse conflict
  • Ask the one question that could stop conflict immediately
  • Dealing with conflict on social media.

This course has been delivered to 150 people across the Perth Metropolitan area. 95% of attendees recommend this course. Here is what a few attendees said about the course:

"This course provided an avenue for me to develop my ability to prevent and manage conflict with all different kinds of people, in an interesting and relevant way" - Caitlin Spencer, UWA Sport Program Coordinator

"All coaches, officials and administrators can gain from this course. Small changes in conflict approach and dealings can have beneficial impact on sports at all levels" - Frank Stapleton, Triathlon WA

Course is being delivered under the Learning and Development Strategy 2018-20 and Every Club program.
