Regional funding

Sport and Recreation (WA) provides a range of services to regional WA including a number of funding opportunities to ensure sport and recreation is as accessible and vibrant in the regions as it is in the metropolitan area.

Regional Grants Scheme

The Regional Grants Scheme supports sport and active recreation activities in regional WA. It helps meet the ever-changing demands and challenges of regional sport and active recreation groups within the nine diverse regions of Western Australia.

The Regional Grants Scheme has three funding programs managed by Sport and Recreation (WA)'s regional offices:

Places and spaces

Places and spaces that provide the opportunity for people to be active are a vital part of regional communities. Well planned and designed environments and facilities that are accessible and sustainable help support quality sport and active recreation opportunities.

Funding is available to help improve places and spaces in regional communities.

Regional talent development

Funded by the State Government's Royalties for Regions Program, the Regional Talent Development Network and the Regional Athlete Travel Subsidy Scheme helps regional athletes aspire to reach their full potential.

Regional clubs

Regional clubs can access $500 for equipment through the Community Sporting Club Equipment Subsidy Scheme. KidSport helps WA children to participate in sport and recreation. Funding is also provided to local governments to provide support to regional community clubs through the Club Development Officer Scheme.

Regional events

Events held in regional WA provide positive social and economic benefits to the community. The Country Sport Enrichment Scheme supports organisations to deliver events, competitions and development opportunities for regional WA.

Tourism WA also supports regional events through the Regional Events Scheme.

Royalties for Regions

Through the Royalties for Regions Program the State Government is investing in a brighter future for regional Western Australia by building strong and vibrant regional communities that are desirable places to live.

Sport and Recreation (WA) delivers a range of initiatives funded by the Royalties for Regions Program. More information on how Royalties for Regions funding helps sport and active recreation in regional communities.
