Update on disability sport research
Links to a couple of items of research around sport and recreation for people with disabilities.
1. Barriers and benefits
of including people with disabilities in sport and active
recreation
The Australian Sports Commission (ASC) is undertaking a research
project in conjunction with the University of Technology Sydney investigating
the ‘Barriers and benefits of including people with disabilities in sport and
active recreation’.
The aim is to provide an evidenced-based position to inform government, sport and the disability sector of the factors that influence the participation of people with disabilities in sport and active recreation.

2. What Sport Can Do
"...to realise these benefits,
though, the sport we do must be good sport, driven by positive values – when
good sport is used intentionally, it can have even greater
benefits."
The words above and below come from a publication called
What Sport Can Do, which was commissioned by a Canadian non-government
organisation in collaboration with the Canadian Government.
