Dr Fabre, a highly qualified educator and strength and conditioning coach, will delve into how his Physical Presence Program can be transferred into a range of sports. The idea being to teach players how to execute contact skills safely while still enjoying the thrill of the contact-contest element of games such as AFL, rugby union, hockey and football (soccer).

“Developing our coaches is vital so they can continue to provide quality coaching for their athletes," said DSR Manager Peel Cary Green. "The new ideas and coaching practices they pick up will help to make their training sessions more innovative, and in turn more enjoyable, for the athletes.”

“When we provide coaches with opportunities like this free series of workshops, the entire Peel community is a winner.”

Workshop two will cover Nutrition with Sophy Porter, a high performance sports dietician and nutrition consultant, and will be held on Wednesday 14 March 2012 at 6-8pm at Mandurah’s Bendigo Bank Stadium.

The third workshop, also in March, will be on Managing Fatigue and Balancing Workloads, and the fourth, Junior Sport Conditioning, will be in April. Details for these two workshops are still being finalised.

All of the workshops are free of charge and include light refreshments.

RSVPs for the Physical Presence workshop need to be received by Friday 24 February and for the Nutrition workshop by Monday 20 February. Contact the DSR Peel office on 9550 3100 or peel@dsr.wa.gov.au.
