Seeking the next Mike Stidwell medallist

The Great Southern’s Alan Barnett, Beryl Determes, Beryl Shirley and Celia Waugh. They have come from sports as diverse as football, netball, riding for the disabled and surf life saving but they all have something in common  a Mike Stidwell Medal.

Mike Stidwell.You or someone you know could be the next to join this list of Great Southern sporting greats recognised for their outstanding contribution to the administration of their respective sporting club or organisation.

It’s as simple as nominating for this year’s Mike Stidwell Medal.

“Mike Stidwell, who the medal was struck in honour of, is remembered for his selfless and long-term contribution to sport and recreation administration in Albany,” said Department of Sport and Recreation (DSR) Acting Manager Great Southern Samantha Stevens.

“Recognising those people who help to make Great Southern sport and recreation vibrant and great so that it can be enjoyed by us all is so important, and I would encourage anyone who knows someone worthy of this honour to make sure they are nominated and in the running for this year’s medal.”

The recipient will be presented with their medal at the annual Albany Sportsperson of the Year awards on Wednesday 7 March 2012 at Le Grande Motel, Albany.
