After speaking with his Local Area Coordinator (LAC) the 25-year-old, who has a disability, decided that he wanted to have a go at playing cricket and has been training with Bassendean Cricket Club since.

Since being put in touch with the club Scott has attened training sessions on a regular basis and has developed into a handy pace bowler and lower order batsman.

“I’ve had to practice really hard and train for a while before I could play a game, but I think I kept on getting better and after a while I was playing on Saturday afternoons for our 9th grade team,” said Scott.

“Everyone at the club has been really welcoming and I have made lots of new friends. It’s also helped me get a bit fitter which is good...I feel like I am just one of the boys.”

Scott also enjoys ten-pin bowling and encourages anyone who wants to play sport to give it a try.

“The hardest part was finding out where I could play, but once I got some help with that, the rest was easy. It’s been lots of fun.”

According to Bassendean Cricket Club President Allan Leslie, Scott has been a welcome addition to the club.

“Scott has definitely been one of the hardest trainers at the club this year, a lot of players have gone out of their way to help Scott with his skill development and he was able to get out and play on Saturday afternoons," he said. "Scott has become a very popular lad at our club and we can’t wait to see him down at training next year."
