The building of new and upgrades to existing sport and recreation facilities in the Gascoyne during the past two years has been central to the community’s recovery from devastating floods that plagued the region in 2010/11.

Carnarvon Basketball Association is back after a six year hiatus and commenced its first season on Thursday 3 May 2012 with the Breaker's Basketball League.

Essential First Aid Training Course

The Department of Sport and Recreation has entered a funding arrangement with the Royal Life Saving Society WA (RLSWA) to deliver 35 basic first aid courses across the state. There will be a minimum of 27 training opportunities in the regions.
