 $120,000 available to regional sport and recreation clubs – APPLY NOW!

Under the Department of Sport and Recreation's Active Regional Communities (ARC) funding, a pool of $80,000 from the Sports Lottery Account and $40,000 from the Sports Wagering Account is now available for initiative grants to support one-off sporting and recreational opportunities to assist the department to meet its strategic outcomes.

The objectives of Initiative Grants are to:

  • Provide opportunities for participation at all levels through active recreation and sport programs, competitions and events.
  • Improve the skills and capabilities of the sector through education and training programs.
  • Grow and strengthen the sector through initiatives that improve the organisational governance in regional sport and recreation.
  • Support talent development and achievement in regional sport.
  • Assist in the hosting of regionally based sport and active recreation events.

Who can apply ?

You are eligible to apply if your organisation:

  • Is a not-for-profit organisation based in regional WA involved in the conduct of sport or physically active recreation.
  • Is incorporated under the Associations Incorporation Act 1987 (Western Australia) or WA Local Government Authorities operating under the Local Government Act.
  • Is affiliated with a Regional Sporting Association recognised by the department.
  • Has acquitted all previous department grants unless that grant is still active/current.

Examples include Regional Sporting Associations, sporting clubs, community groups, Police and Citizens Youth Clubs (PCYC), YMCA, and Local Government Authorities (LGA). 

When do I need to apply by?

As soon as possible. Applications will be received until the funding pool is exhausted.  Please note, applications need to be received at least four weeks prior to the event/program.

How do I apply ?

In the first instance, please contact your region's Department of Sport and Recreation office to discuss your application. Funding guidelines and an application form will be emailed to you if what you are proposing aligns with the department’s outcomes and wish to proceed with making an application.
