The newest accommodation area at Ern Halliday Camp is our Port and Starboard Dormitory area. Built in 2006, this facility consists of two identical dormitories: the Port Dormitory and the Starboard Dormitory with a total of four bunk rooms and two smaller leaders' rooms. There is also a small grassed oval adjacent to the dormitory block.
Each dormitory has three rooms: two rooms with six bunk beds sleeping 12 each; and a leaders' room, sleeping four. The leaders room has two bunk beds, but one of the bunks has a double bed on the lower level. The leaders room in each dormitory also has a trundle bed for an extra person if required. As a standard, each dormitory holds 28 people (including only one person using the double bed and excluding the trundle bed), for a total of 56 people for both dormitories. Toilets and showers (including accessible toilets and showers) are located within each dormitory.
Bookings of the Port and Starboard dorms require a minimum of two nights, although one night bookings may be approved by the Camp Manager under certain conditions. Read our FAQs for more information.
Port and Starboard also has a large meeting and dining hall located at the main kitchen area, which was also built in 2006, and has enough tables and chairs for 100 people. The dining room has a large wall-mounted whiteboard, projector screen, and is equipped with a TV with VCR/DVD player. There is also a boiling-water dispenser for coffee and tea (BYO). Self-catering is is not permitted.
