Peel Youth Consultation
In 2009, the Department of Sport and Recreation (DSR) commissioned the preparation of research into recreation and sport participation by young people within the Peel region. The report was completed in April 2010, and results will be made available soon.

A total of 543 students were surveyed from 16 schools across the region
to provide the results which have then been compiled into a report.
The project aim and objectives were established by the Department of Sport and Recreation, the aim being to establish a baseline understanding of sport and recreation participation characteristics of youths (12–16 years of age) in the Peel region of Western Australia.
The objectives were to:
- Develop an appropriate survey tool and research methodology to establish baseline data and participation trends with future survey repeats.
- Provide statistically significant data/information to assist key stakeholders and sport and recreation service providers in the development and enhancement of participation opportunities for youths (12–16 years of age) in the Peel region.
- Identify key areas for policy and program development in sport and recreation for youths (12–16 years of age).
- Establish a basic understanding of the sport and recreation participation characteristics of youths (12–16 years of age) in the Peel region.
