Peel Region Cycle Instead Bikeweek 11–25 March 2012

Bikeweek is coming to the Peel Region and there is something to suit all ages and abilities!

MMVV Group have a try ride Bikeweek 2011.The South Metropolitan Public Health Unit has received sponsorship support from the Department of Transport and, together with community agencies, businesses and bike clubs, has programmed a range of cycling activities.

Mandurah Community Breakfast Bikeweek 2011.Come along and try cycling with a local club or bring your family and friends to be part of the fun activities at the community events. Most activities are free and every participant in a Bikeweek event is eligible to win a bicycle of their choice valued at $600 as well as many other prizes and give-aways.

Peel Bikeweek’s activities commence on Sunday 11 March with a group mountain bike ride in Dwellingup hosted by Munda Biddi Trail Foundation and Dwellingup Adventures. Free hire of mountain bikes will be available for those without their own.

Between 14-23 March, ‘Have-A-Try’ and group social rides are being offered in various localities by Peel Districts Cycling Club, Mandurah Avanti Plus, Mandurah Murray Vietnam Veterans Group,  Mandurah Over 55 Cycling Club, Satterley Community Development Program and Silver Wheels Cycle Club.

Bikeweek will also be celebrated during Crabfest weekend March 17-18. The City of Mandurah are operating a free bicycle valet parking service at Hall Park to encourage people to cycle to Crabfest for a fun, healthy, hassle free, secure transport option. Park & pick up your bike any time between 8am and 5pm each day.

Also during the Crabfest weekend, a BMX & skate competition for young people will be held at the Halls Head Skatepark. Spectators are welcome.

The final Bikeweek event is on 25 March. A 6.5km family bike ride and fun novelty bike activities will form part of the Alcoa Mandurah Island Challenge fundraising community event at Hall Park in Mandurah. A pool of bikes will be available for use to those without their own.
