Sport and recreation in the Peel
The moderate climate and distinctive physical features (beaches, Harvey Estuary and Darling Scarp) provide an excellent opportunity to enjoy a diverse range of outdoor passive and active recreational activities.
Most sporting activities are generally well catered for, with local councils providing a standard level of indoor and outdoor facilities.
All major sport organisations conduct development programs targeting talented athletes and increasing participation in their sport. Being close to Perth means talented athletes can take part in metropolitan competitions and development programs, such as those of the Western Australian Institute of Sport.
