Outdoors October encourages Western Australians to get outside and be active

Outdoors October begins today with the month-long celebration of outdoor active recreation encouraging Western Australians of all ages to get outside, be active and take in the natural world around them.

Outdoors October celebrates WA's wonderful natural landscape, reminding people of the huge range of outdoor activities on offer — from hiking and riding, to snorkelling and camping.

Activities are planned all over the State to mark Outdoors October with many free, family friendly and designed for beginners.

The Outdoors October website has details on local events to take part in. People are encouraged to pledge to get outside, share their activities on social media, and get involved in the photo competition.

Outdoors October is organised by Outdoors WA, the peak body for outdoor activities in the State.

"After what has felt like a long and cold winter, it's time to get moving and head outside for Outdoors October.

"Western Australia's natural landscape is incredibly special, so if you're not a regular visitor to the outdoors, this is the time to get out and go for a walk, find a cycle path or take to the water.

"Being outdoors is not only good for your physical health but it's great for your mental wellbeing too, so why not try a new activity or just grab some mates for a game in your local park."
