Meet the Mid West's new Regional Officer

Simon Barras has joined the Department of Sport and Recreation's Mid West office as its new Regional Officer.

Simon Barras.Although a keen cricket fan, Simon (formerly the Mid West Sportshouse's Cricket Regional Development Officer) is also involved in a variety of other sports.

Simon worked with the Western Australian Cricket Association (WACA) for six years, has worked with most communities in the Mid West and brings a wealth of experience to the local DSR team.

 Simon is already involved in a number of projects including:

  • Organising the next Week  8 Community Capacity Building program through the Murchison
  • Assisting a number of Regional Sports associations with funding through our Oganisational Sustainability Program
  • He will be conducting FacilityAudits during Jun - June through the Murchson
  • Addressing outcomes and recommendations from the Regional Development Officers study and report
  • Assisting with the High Performanceor or GAP camp for talented junior athletes plannned for the Mid West in May
  • Managing our Skywest Scholarship program
  • Organising the next Presidents Sports Forum
