Major projects
The department is involved in many major projects to enhance the sport and recreation industry.
The replacements for the Perry Lakes athletics and basketball facilities are completed at AK Reserve.
Other projects include upgrades to the State Softball Centre, the State Equestrian Centre, and the Whiteman Park Shooting Complex. The State Gymnastics Centre located at the Loftus Centre was also completed.
Current projects
In May 2012 the State Government announced $31.73million in funding for a new Western Australian Institute of Sport High Performance Service Centre in order to meet the training requirements of Western Australia’s high performing athletes.
The State Netball Centre will provide a venue for state league netball competition, West Coast Fever training, development squads and community netball activities.
