Community sport depends on extensive volunteer involvement for its survival. Sport is one of several sectors in the economy that benefits from the input of volunteers; many community-sporting organisations rely heavily on volunteers to provide services to their members.
Volunteers are people who choose freely to give their time to organisations or groups in the community for no monetary reward.
Voluntary work is an enormous source of social capital and contributes directly to the growth and development of social networks and social cohesion in our communities. Volunteers also have a vital role to play in providing opportunities for all Western Australians to have physically active lifestyles.
