Healthy Club Sponsorships now open

Incorporated sporting clubs in a recognised sporting competition over the 2010 Winter season may apply for up to $2500 for initiatives to make their club safer, healthier or to train and educate volunteers.

Sponsorship funds can be used to purchase items including: first aid equipment, club safety equipment, sunscreen, Responsible Service of Alcohol training, healthy nutrition initiatives, training and coaching courses for volunteers and parents, as well as other initiatives.

In return for sponsorship, clubs are required to introduce some smoke free outdoor areas and introduce strategies to address other health issues.

Clubs will also need to develop and introduce a Healthy Club Policy addressing the issues of smoking, sun protection, alcohol and healthy food choices.

Applications close at 5 pm on Monday 15 February 2010.
