Key Learning's from the Healthy Active Workplace Networking Event
The Department of Sport and Recreation's Healthy Active Workplaces Networking event, supported by the WA Chamber of Commerce and Industry, was held on 2 November.
The event targeted anyone involved in implementing workplace health initiatives, or those who wanted to learn about workplace health. Presenters from a number of workplaces across the public and private sector volunteered their time to share their initiatives, the successes and challenges.
Key Learning's:
- There is no one size fits all approach when it comes to workplace health. It's important that each workplace's needs are assessed in the planning stages and this information is used to develop a tailored workplace health program
- Establishing a group of champions or advocates to help implement the program can be a successful way to drive the program further
- There is value in using incentives to motivate staff to get involved in workplace health and make behaviour changes
- There is great value in sharing resources with other organisations. Many organisations collaborate in order to make workplace health more cost effective and efficient for their organisation
