Foreshore football with the fuzz
Football West and the State Security Investigation Group, as part of the WA Police, are proud to once again present the Football with the Fuzz Multicultural Friendship Games on October 10.
23 September 2010
The venue will be the iconic Langley Park on Riverside Drive
looking across the picturesque Swan River and overshadowed by the skyscrapers
of the CBD.
The games will feature men’s and women’s teams from diverse ethnic communities around Perth and regional areas, playing alongside teams represented by members of the WA Police.
As always the event is more than just sport; a free family fun-filled day is on offer featuring a special appearance from the stars of Perth Glory, plus kids football clinics, displays and multicultural music.
There is also special significance as the day falls during a time of celebration for Saudi Arabia which is represented at every event by a passionate and community-minded local group.
If that wasn’t enough, the inflatable pitch will be in operation and you will see some of Perth’s personalities take each other on in a fun-filled exhibition game.
A barbecue will run throughout the day with all food being certified Halal.
Program Coordinator Gordon Duus is looking forward to the 2010 tournament.
“People all around Western Australia have told us they have heard about the program and want to be involved,” he said.
“The 2009 instalment received a sports industry award and accolades from the Office of Multicultural Interests, however this year is set to be even bigger and more involving for the members of emerging (Culturally and Linguistically Diverse) communities.
“We also encourage the wider Perth community to make a day out from it and bring the family down to see a showcase of Australian multicultural harmony in the awesome surroundings!”
Football West would like to thank National Security and Smarter than Smoking for their support.
