Bronze for Bibbulmun
The Bibbulmun Track is already renowned as one of the world’s greatest long distance walk trails, and the track can now add another feather to its cap after a bronze medal win in the 2008 WA Tourism Awards.
24 December 2009
The track won the medal in the Tourist Attractions category at a ceremony held at the Burswood Entertainment Complex.
The WA Tourism Awards promote and reward excellence in tourism operations and are presented in November each year.
Stretching about 1000km from Kalamunda in the Perth Hills to Albany, the Bibbulmun Track passes through nine towns and crosses some of the most beautiful and wild areas of the South-West of our state, ranging from karri forest to coastal heathlands.
According to the Australian Bureau of Statistics 2006, walking is the most commonly reported physical recreation activity among Australians.
Walking is a great way to be active – it's a low impact exercise on the body, inexpensive to do and most enjoyable.
