The Department of Sport and Recreation in partnership with the Active After-school Communities Program is offering this face-to-face course, which is a recognised training course facilitated by the Australian Sports Commission.

In particular, it is aimed at coaches working with children. There are five modules in the course and it takes approximately 6-8 hours to complete. The Beginning Coaching General Principles (BCGP) course can be completed in WA through several different formats;

  • Central Institute of TechnologyThe Department of Sport and Recreation has established a relationship with Central Institute of Technology, who delivers these courses. Course dates can be found on the Calendar of Events. Please complete the registration form and forward it directly to Central Institute of Technology to confirm your attendance at a face to face course.
  • The BCGP course can be delivered by Training Agencies who are registered with the ASC i.e. schools, community organisations, private providers. To become a Registered Training agency please contact the DSR Coaching and Officiating consultant.
  • BCGP is available online for free. Please see the Australian Sports Commission website for further details.
  • The Australian Sports Commission through the Active After-school Communities Program (AASC) delivers a Community Coach Training Program which aligns directly with the BCGP course. For further details on their course dates please contact the AASC office in Western Australia on 08 9492 9769.
