There are nine separate incorporated senior football associations in the Metropolitan and Peel Districts of Western Australia and each of the WAFL districts has a District Development Council (DDC) for its junior competitions. Outside this structure there are a few Auskick competitions that are not associated with any of the DDCs and usually linked with primary schools. Whilst most of these associations are separately incorporated, they still have a direct relationship with the WAFC which is the controlling body in this State and also provides financial and development assistance. The separately incorporated associations within the metropolitan districts are as follows:
  • Western Australian Football League Inc.
  • Western Australian Country Football League Inc. (1971)
  • Sunday Football League Inc. (1983)
  • Western Australian Amateur Football League Inc.
  • Western Australian Women’s Football League Inc.
  • Masters Australian Football Inc.
  • Western Australian Football Association
  • Hills Football Association
  • Peel Football Association
  • Claremont District Development Council
  • East Fremantle District Development Council
  • East Perth District Development Council
  • Peel District Development Council
  • Perth District Development Council
  • South Fremantle District Development Council
  • Swan Districts District Development Council
  • West Perth District Development Council
There is also a break-away football association, which currently doesn’t have any relationship with the WAFC but which the WAFC remains open for inclusion under its umbrella, this being:
  • Mercantile Football League
