Christine was already heavily involved in sport before starting in her new role.

"I am a mother of six children and grandmother of 12. Most of my children live in Kalgoorlie except the oldest who lives in Geraldton," Christine said.

"I have been actively involved with sports. I am the founding member of my children's Blazers Basketball Team, men and women, and also involved in the Warriors Football Team."

Christine started at DSR's Goldfields office in mid- August 2009, and since joining the team she has travelled to Laverton, Warburton and Coolgardie.

"I attended NAIDOC Week in Laverton - which is about 360 km from Kalgoorlie one way - with representatives from Football West. They did a soccer clinic to the school children on the day.

"I have travelled to Coolgardie - about 32 km one way from Kalgoorlie to assist in -developing a netball and volleyball scratch match for the Indigenous women.

"I also travelled to Warburton - about 550 km from Laverton one way - for the annual Desert Dustup. Then I continued to travel on to some of the other communities such as Wanarn, Warakurna, Blackstone and Jameson - about 550 from Warburton. The Desert Dustup is an incentive for the Indigenous children to attend at least 60 per cent to participate. It was a wonderful week."
