What are Adventure Activity Standards (AAS)?
The Adventure Activity Standards (AAS) are minimum standards for conducting leader dependent outdoor recreation activity and cover aspects of leaders' skills, safety, planning, environment and equipment.

The purpose of the AAS is to maintain the value and experience of the adventure whilst reducing and managing risks for participants.
The AAS were developed in response to recommendations of the Ministerial Enquiry into Visitor Safety in Adventure Tourism.
The AAS provide a valuable resource for the development of operating procedures, and/or for the purposes of comparing existing operating procedures to industry agreed, benchmarked standards.
