The Projects Report is a current snapshot of industry facility needs and outlines major sporting infrastructure projects being developed.
The Stadium Hierarchy Model (SHM) is a new concept introduced in the SSFP and is based on the need to have a flexible hierarchy of sustainable, multi-purpose facilities with differing seating capacities to support existing and potential participation in a variety of sports within a community.
To address Western Australia's SHM gaps, multi-purpose stadiums need to be developed to cater for seating capacities of:
- 0–1499
- 5000–9999
In addition, there are a number of state-level facility projects that have been identified or are being developed specifically by sports to address their needs.
These include:
- Athletics/basketball.
- Canoeing/netball.
- Rifle shooting/rugby union/rowing.
There are several existing state-level facilities that have the scope to be upgraded or refurbished to cater for the SHM considerations and identified sports specific needs.
These include:
- Challenge Stadium.
- Mirrabooka Softball Complex.
- State Equestrian Centre.
- Western Australian Cricket Association Ground.
- Whiteman Park International Shooting Complex.
The Projects Report will be reviewed and published annually to reflect project developments, industry trends and changing partnership opportunities.
