Dr Russell Hoye is the Associate Dean (Research) at La Trobe University and Director of the Centre for Sport and Social Impact, Faculty of Business, Economics and Law, Victoria, Australia. Russell has been involved in sport management education since 1993, working in Australia at La Trobe University, Griffith University and Victoria University, and in China with The University of Hong Kong and Tsinghua University.

Russell is the Editor of the Sport Management Series produced by Elsevier: Butterworth Heinemann, a member of the editorial board for Sport Management Review, the International Journal of Sport Policy and the Australian Journal on Volunteering, a board member of the Sport Management Association of Australia and New Zealand (SMAANZ), and a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

He has acted as a consultant for the Australian Sports Commission, Sport Knowledge Australia, Sport and Recreation Victoria, Victorian Department of Natural Resources and Environment, the Victorian Casino and Gaming Authority, Melbourne Racing Club and many State sport organisations.

Russell's areas of expertise include corporate governance, organisational behaviour, volunteer management and sport policy. He has published papers on these topics in journals such as Nonprofit Management and Leadership, Sport Management Review, European Sport Management Quarterly, Society and Leisure, International Gambling Studies, Third Sector Review, Sporting Traditions, Managing Leisure, Football Studies, Annals of Leisure Research, and the Australian Journal on Volunteering. His most recent books include Sport and Social Capital (2008) and Sport Governance (2007) both published with Elsevier.
