Fair Play Industry Case Studies
This section showcases how the sport and recreation industry at community level has addressed the five key priority areas of the Fair Play – Strategic Framework for Inclusive Sport and Recreation.
The Fair Play – Strategic Framework for Inclusive Sport and Recreation was copiled by the Department of Sport and Recreation (DSR) and the Disability Services Commission (DSC) in May 2008.
The sport and recreation industry plays a vital role in the inclusion of people with a disability in their communities, and this framework highlights major outcomes in the area of inclusion that can be achieved through community-level sport and recreation.
To showcase and acknowledge how the industry is responding to the five priority areas outlined in Fair Play – Strategic Framework for Inclusive Sport and Recreation, we are developing a series of case studies featuring programs being delivered by industry sport and recreation providers.
Each case study is aligned to one or more of the five priority areas of Fair Play. These priority areas are:
- Leadership
- Capacity Building
- Partnerships
- Advocacy, Awareness and Promotion
- Regional Western Australia
The successful implementation of Fair Play has largely depended upon the level of commitment to its vision and values by all deliverers of sport and recreation. These include the broader community, private and industry partners and state and local governments.
The ultimate goal of Fair Play is to ensure people with disabilities have equal access to sport and recreation and have the opportunity to participate in inclusive environments, especially at the grass-roots level.
The following case studies demonstrate how the sport and recreation industry, at community level, has developed programs that address the five priority areas of Fair Play to provide participation opportunities for people with a disability.
